In general, Metrology Certificate is required for all measuring instruments, operated in any industrial application, such as level/flow transmitters, pressure/temperature gauges, differential pressure indicators/recorders and specialist measuring instruments such as gas- and dew-point analysers, where accuracy of measurement and repeatability is important for the safe operation of an installation. Such instruments must be entered on the Gosstandard Register in Kazakhstan Institute of Metrology, Kazinmetr, situated in Astana. There are two types of Metrology Certificate - a "one-off" batch certificate valid for the whole service life of the instrument in question; or "pattern" or "type" Certificate, valid for 5 years for unlimited number of the same instruments.
